(Century Plant)

Features: Light green solid foliage

Form: Succulent rosette to 0.5m

Aspect: Full sun.

Soil: Well drained soils.

Growing: Fertilize annually to retain colour. Terminal flowering after 10 years.

 

Anigozanthos 'Bush Gems'

(Kangaroo Paw)

Features: Persistent kangaroo paw flowers.

Form: Clumped strappy plant to  0.5m.

Aspect: Full sun (best flowers) to part shade.

Soil: Well drained organic or poor drainage.

Growing: flowers in spring to summer, fertilize after flowering. Allow clean air flow.

 

Clivia miniata
(Kaffir Lily)

Features: Dark foliage. Orange flowers.

Form: Strappy leaf plant to 0.4m

Aspect: Part shade to shade

Soil: Well drained coarse organic soil.

Growing: Mass plantings flower winter/spring. Divide and fertilize after flowering.

 

Cycas revoluta

(Sago Palm)

Features: Prehistoric foliage, will re-grow new foliage in a complete flush of growth.

Form: Slow, small palm to 2.5m.

Aspect: Full sun to shade.

Growing: Prune old leaves away as required. Avoid excessive fertilizer and watering.

(NZ Cabbage tree)

Features: Fine purple or green architectural foliage. Clusters of cream flowers.

Form: Slow growing tree/shrub from 3- 5m.

Growing: Flowers Spring to Summer. Feed in Autumn. Remove spent flower spikes.

(English Lavendar)

Features: Mauve-purple flowers constantly. Aromatic foliage. Soft grey-green texture.

Form: Small shrub to 0.75m

Aspect: Prefers full sun, okay in light shade.

Soil: Well drained coarse organic soils.

Growing: Flowers all year round. Feed with slow release fertiliser. Prune back regularly.

(NZ flax)

Features: Long sword shaped leaves. Attracts birds. Tall beak like flower spikes. Salt tolerant.

Form: Clumping perennial to 2.5m

Aspect: Full sun to part shade.

Soil: Tolerates wet & well drained soils.

Growing: Flowers in Spring. Cut away any spent leaves or flower heads. Feed in Autumn.

(Mother-in-Laws Tongue)

Features: Fleshy sword shaped succulent leaves. Yellow-green variegation. Salt tolerant.

Form: Running succulent to 0.5m.

Soil: Requires coarse well drained soils.

Growing: Needs little care. Great for pots. Feed yearly. May need restricting.
